Eccentric electronic pop personality Jerskin Fendrix is dropping his debut album Winterreise in a matter of weeks and its already shaping up to be one of the most intriguing records of the year. Following the ominous 'Black Hair' and bombastic 'A Star Is Born', 'Oh God' is an oxymoronic explosion of euphoric self-deprecation. Having served as the climax of Fendrix' live show for a while now, we were keen to hear the finished product and its safe to say that it doesn't disappoint. Bleating synths form the basis of 'Oh God's sparse sonic backdrop. Urgent and precise, the melancholy keys pattern moves through a series of emotive chord changes, pulling on the heartstrings as Fendrix' candid lyrical confessions force his listeners to focus. Overflowing with emotion around the 3 minute mark, Fendrix removes the safety blanket of his Hello Kitty eye mask in the self-directed accompanying video and let's us have it with a cathartic tirade of his own perceived inadequacies. Winterreise will arrive on the 17th of April via untitled recs. -Holly Mullineaux
